"We need to constantly add new blood donors to have enough of each blood type on hand for patients across Canada". The organization is also asking companies and community groups to host blood drives this summer to help boost the supply, which is typically a period when blood donations are lower. "We urge the public to roll up a sleeve and fill the missing types before these lifesaving letters go missing from hospital shelves".

Officials are holding a press conference Monday in Albany to provide details about the campaign dubbed Missing Types.

A recent survey, conducted on behalf of the Red Cross, revealed a troubling disconnect between the public's perception of blood donations and the realities of patient transfusion needs. But the number of donors is down to only three percent of the population. "Because you never know when you or someone you know is in desperate need of the blood", Iverson said.

"I started donating platelets once I realized what the importance was to the other patients and the other people in the hospital", Lilly said.

The Red Cross, as well as One Blood, have several opportunities to give in southwest Georgia.

As schools let out and families begin to vacation, the American Red Cross statistically finds that its blood donations decrease. It's not just blood: it's keeping families together.

Several other locations across the island include The University Hospital of the West Indies, National Blood Transfusion Centre's Slipe Pen Road Collection Unit, Port Antonio Hospital, St Ann's Bay Hospital, Mandeville Hospital, and Fairview Shopping Centre (temporary set-up) in Montego Bay, among others. It was incredibly frustrating and eye-opening for Lily's mom, Susie Dotson. "Lily needed blood products just as much as the chemo or the treatment".

It's also worth noting that President Trump has been publicly opposed to the deal since he was on the campaign trail. Delrahim, Trump's appointment as the antitrust chief at the Justice Department, is widely well-regarded.

The Red Cross has more information at its website here.

The app now allows donors to book appointments, access maps of all the blood drives across the country and share via personal social media platforms, and as one of the coolest features yet, it sends a special notification to Whole Blood donors when their blood has been used to help save a life - in real time.

In fact, for the past four years, new Red Cross donors have declined by about 80,000 each year.

The service has specifically asked for people who are O positive, O negative, A positive and B negative to donate.

Health check: Answer questions and receive a mini-physical.

Refreshments: Donors enjoy snacks and relax before resuming their day.
