President Donald Trump announced that his economic adviser Larry Kudlow suffered a heart attack and is now at Walter Reed Medical Center. "He is now in Walter Reed Medical Center", said the message sent minutes before he was scheduled to meet Kim Jong-un, the North Korean leader, in Singapore.
No additional information on Kudlow's condition was immediately available from the White House.
Kudlow's wife, Judith Kudlow, told The Washington Post in a brief conversation on Monday evening that Kudlow was doing well and recovering. "He is now in Walter Reed Medical Center", President Trump wrote on Twitter.
Kudlow joined Trump last week in Canada for the G-7 meeting of world leaders.
Mr. Trump hired him in April to replace Gary Cohn as the head of the National Economic Council, reportedly because he enjoyed Mr. Kudlow's combative television appearances.
'It's my honor' to meet Kim
Turns out, North Korea's Dear Leader is not staying at the Fullerton Hotel as initially posited by The Washington Post . Trump and Kim will meet at the Capella Hotel on Sentosa Island at 9:00 a.m.
"He really kind of stabbed us in the back", Kudlow said.
When he was a CNBC contributor before taking the White House job, Kudlow argued the metals tariffs Trump had announced would harm consumers.
Kudlow went on to label Trudeau's news conference, at which the prime minister said "Canadians will not be pushed around" on the issue of tariffs, as a "betrayal".
As a commentator, Kudlow had strongly backed Trump's moves to cut taxes and reduce business regulations but was openly critical toward the president's tariffs moves.
