Duck Boat Crashes at Table Rock Lake in Missouri During 60+ MPH Wind Gusts; Multiple Casualties Possible

'Ride the Ducks' boat capsizes on Table Rock Lake in Missouri

Officials say eight people have died, and several others hospitalized, after a tourist boat accident on a lake in southern Missouri.

Rader said divers were on the scene searching for passengers, but could not confirm how many were missing.

"Sustained winds over 40 mph, lightning, moderate rain and lowered visibility to as low as 2 miles may have contributed to this incident", said weather.com meteorologist Jonathan Belles. Dive teams are now searching for people who are still missing, Rader said. Weather reports said high winds hit the area at about 7 p.m.

He also said an off-duty sheriff's deputy working security for the boat company helped rescue people after the accident. Stay with us for further updates.

The company that builds ducks, Ride the Ducks International, agreed in 2016 to pay a $1.35 million fine after one of the vehicles collided with a bus in Seattle, killing five international students.

The boat was carrying 31 people, he said, and dive teams from various agencies are scouring the waters for potential victims. Most are surplus military vehicles originally built for use during World War II and the Korean War and heavily modified to carry passengers on land and sea tours.
