First Two Images Of Godzilla: King Of Monsters Hit The Web

The first images from Michael Dougherty's upcoming Godzilla: King of the Monsters were released today.

Humanity's existence hangs in the balance when the mighty Godzilla collides with Mothra, Rodan and the three-headed monster King Ghidorah.

Director Michael Dougherty (Krampus) told EW that he wanted to show the "paranoia and endless speculation about whether he (Godzilla) is the only one out there or whether we're threatened by others like his kind". He's like this winged A-bomb. "Rodan's been kind of a sidekick character, but I've always had a soft spot for him" he said. "I think we've done him justice".

Say what you will about the 1998 Godzilla, but that movie had a pretty ingenious method of advertising the size of the titular beast without giving away its appearance, launching a series of posters emblazoned with such ominous boasts as "His foot is bigger than this bus".

Trudeau Defies Trump at NATO Meet, Cuts Military Spend
The likelihood of a trade war between the US and Canada appears to be on the rise and both sides are mulling more trade barriers. The conflict gained traction when Trudeau promised to hit back with retaliatory measures.

The second reveals two of the new cast members-Vera Farmiga (The Conjuring), who plays monster hunter Dr. Emma Russell, and Stranger Things' breakout star Millie Bobbie Brown, as her daughter Madison. Trick "r Treat filmmaker Michael Dougherty is in the director's chair this time around, and an nearly entirely new cast is in front of the camera save for Monarch members played by Ken Watanabe and Sally Hawkins". Given that Chandler also costarred in Peter Jackson's 2005 remake of King Kong, perhaps he may stick around for the next installment in Legendary Entertainment's "MonsterVerse": 2020's Godzilla vs. Kong.

"It's not like we're bending over backwards to introduce Kong, but there's definitely some bread crumbs", Dougherty says of references to Kong.

Gareth Edwards used the infamous Kaiju sparingly, saving the special effects budget for a slobber-knocker of a brawl between Godzilla and a pair of MUTO monsters that saw an entire city Man of Steeled in the process.
