Homeless Miami street artist with no arms charged with stabbing

An armless homeless man who is known on South Beach as an artist who paints with his feet was arrested Tuesday for stabbing a man with a pair of scissors, authorities said.

Coronado told police he was just asking for directions when Crenshaw suddenly jumped up and stabbed him.

According to the arrest report, Crenshaw claims he was lying down when Coronado approached him and hit him in the head.

According to a Reuters report, he was subsequently detained near the attack site in a shopping and tourist area around the South Beach and charged with one count of aggravated battery, a second-degree felony.

Cindy Barrientos, who was travelling with Mr Coronado, described the attacker as a homeless man with no arms to officers.

Police say Crenshaw stabbed Coronado twice and fled.

Jonathan Crenshaw, 46, was charged with aggravated battery after allegedly using his feet to stab a Chicago tourist with scissors.

Coronado was visiting the area with his friend from Chicago.

The victim, Cesar Coronado, was admitted to a local hospital bleeding from his left arm, police said.

The publication profiled Crenshaw in 2011 in which he told them he was born in Alabama but frequently moved with his family as a child. Crenshaw is in custody at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center with a $7,500 bond and his court date is scheduled for July 18, reports the New Times.
