OnePlus has already confirmed two years of Android updates for its smartphones, which means OnePlus 5, 5T will get upgraded to Android P. There will be an additional year of Android security updates for the two phones as well, though this does not mean they will Android Q when that launches in 2019. While the firm has done a pretty good job of supporting its handsets over the past year, the new release is important, mainly because it features support for Google's Project Treble.
Previously a representative for OnePlus insisted neither the OnePlus 5 or OnePlus 5T would be a part of Project Treble. If you have signed up for the Open Beta program by installing a beta software on your device, then you should be receiving the latest update via OTA.
OnePlus said it has finally found a solution to implementing support for Project Treble, after originally stating that the devices would not support the feature. ASUS was able to add Treble support to one of its phones without adding a vendor partition, so it's possible OnePlus made a similar maneuver for the OnePlus 5 and 5T here.

Some animations, theme accent colors, buttons, toggles, text, and the Settings app have all been improved. OnePlus has also changed the logic for the contact page on the default OnePlus dialer app. The version also supports accent colour customisation (using a colour wheel). The Hidden Drawer, which appears when you pull from the left of the launcher, also gets some improvements in terms of app listings.
Since the latest OxygenOS build comes with Project Treble support, if you are not running Open Beta 12 for OnePlus 5 and Open Beta 10 for OnePlus 5T, ensure that you flash the builds before updating. Head over the OnePlus Download center to download and install the update on these smartphones.
