Pokemon Go's Anniversary Event is Live

To celebrate the game's two year anniversary, the Pokémon GO team stated in a blog post that it will be making Pikachu and Pichu encounters more frequent from July 6th through July 31st.

There have been a lot of new Pokemon added to Pokemon GO since it launched two summers ago, and those who have been attempting to catch 'em all are probably struggling to find space in their collection. Better yet, Niantic is bringing on the heat with a "Summer Style" Pikachu, complete with straw hat and sunglasses. During that time Pichu and Pikachu will also spawn more often.

England into semi-final after win over Sweden
England scored once in either half to beat the Swedes 2-0 in Samara and reach their first World Cup semifinal since 1990. David Baddiel - the man who sings the second verse of the adopted national anthem - gave us a massive build-up.

Niantic has also revealed that Celebi will be coming to the game soon. Players with a Gold Pikachu Fan medal will be eligible to buy a Pikachu T-shirt or even Pikachu ears for their avatar.

If that's not enough Pikachu for you, a selection of Pikachu Fan Avatar items will be available in the store. But while we wait for player vs. player battles - which might be the next major addition - Niantic wants us to celebrate the game's second anniversary. In the "near future", the developer says that a Special Research mission focused on the Mythical Pokemon Celebi will be available globally. Niantic didn't give an exact release date for Celebi, but we'll be keeping an eye out for more specifics going forward.
