Las Vegas Metro Police released dramatic body camera video showing a pursuit and officer-involved shooting involving two homicide suspects last Wednesday.
Police spotted a black SUV approximately two hours later that matched a description of the one that the two suspects were driving.
As the suspects' vehicle was attempting to flee from authorities, the men inside the vehicle fired 34 shots at officers, striking multiple vehicles, police said. The officers were investigating a shooting at a vehicle wash earlier that morning in which a man was shot multiple times; he later died.
Police named Umana and Soloman as the officers who fired their weapons, but did not say which one featured in the footage.
"The officer could have backed off, but he didn't", he said, referring to Umana. The victim of that shooting later died at a hospital. Miranda was killed at the scene, according to police. "In my opinion they showed bravery and heroics we come to expect from our officers". "Shots fired!" into his radio as they start to pursue the suspects' vehicle.
MGM files lawsuit, claims no liability in Las Vegas mass shooting
In one suit filed on behalf of 450 victims , the plaintiffs argue that MGM had a "duty of reasonable care" to monitor hotel guests.
The other suspect - Miranda - moved to the driver's seat and tried backing up toward Umana, who left his vehicle and continued firing at the SUV.
Nunez, 30, was also shot but survived and was found hiding on school grounds later and arrested.
The wheels of the SUV start spinning in reverse as Umana, who has reloaded, gets out of his patrol vehicle and fires more shots at the driver's side door. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said two men were seen taking off in an SUV.
Nunez faces multiple charges of murder with a deadly weapon and attempted murder with a deadly weapon, the paper said, adding that he was in jail Monday without bail.
