According to KTLA, 92-year-old Rodolfo Rodriguez was walking after eating dinner on the Fourth of July.

A video, shot by a witness who called 911, became national news It also started trending in Mexico, where Rodriguez is originally from.

"Go back to your country, why are you here, bad things", the witness said the mother told Rodriguez, who is a legal US resident, according to the station. A group of young men bounded down the street, accusing Rodriguez of trying to snatch the young girl.

A neighbor saw the attack and ran out of her home to scream at the suspects.

"It was terrible, terrible, terrible", she said. Mendoza told the outlet.

A 92-year-old Mexican national visiting his family in Los Angeles was beaten and told to go back to Mexico, according to reports. "There's no harm that he meant for you to treat him the way you did". "That's why we're still in shock, as you can see he's badly injured".

The witness spoke to KCBS in L.A. and said she asked the woman why she attacked the man.
