Xiaomi hasn't announced which countries will get the new A-series phones yet.
Here's a closer look at Xiaomi's latest Android One smartphone.
A year on, Xiaomi is renewing its collaboration with Google to launch two Android One phones. While not much has changed from the Mi A1 to the Mi A2, there are still a few things that the company has chose to differently with the latter. The launch event is scheduled to commence at 11.30 AM (2.30 IST).
Previous year in September, Chinese smartphone brand Xiaomi launched the Mi A1 - its very first Android One smartphone.
In the camera department, the Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite features a dual rear-facing camera with 12 + 5 megapixel and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.
On the other hand, the 32-inch Mi TV 4A has an HD (1366x768 pixels) panel and the 43-inch Mi TV 4A has a full-HD (1920x1080 pixels) display. The company also offers a variant with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage priced at Rs 12,999. Whereas, the Mi A1 had the Snapdragon 625 with the Adreno 506 GPU.
Not only does the camera interface feel very responsive, the Mi A2 can take sharp, flattering images with good dynamic range too. The front camera is likely to be a 5MP shooter for selfies and video calling. For photography, the Mi A2 Lite will also be provided with a dual rear camera comprising 12MP+5MP sensors. The phone which we all expected to see alongside the Mi Max 3 was spotted on Qualcomm's website filed under devices powered by the Snapdragon 710.
Alongside the A2 is the A2 Lite. Pricing for the Mi A2 starts at €249 (around $290) for the 4GB/32GB model, then €279 (around $325) for 4GB/64GB, and €349 (around $408) for 6GB/128GB.
Smartphones with a clean, stock version of Android are (surprisingly) aplenty in the market now, but only a few are truly impressive. Entry-level, because, the price of the Mi A2 could be under the Rs. 15,000 price bracket.
Xiaomi has announced that both the smartphones will be launched in India on August 8, 2018.
Mi LED Smart TV 4, claimed to be the thinnest LED TV ever, is a 55 inch (138.8 cm) television which is rated to play 4K content.
Xiaomi will be offering the Mi A2 in three memory configurations and five colors - Black, Gold, Rose Gold, Blue, and Red. This chipset also featured in the Mi A1. The prices may go up to Rs 16,500 without discount.
The Mi A2 will be available in 40 markets across Europe, Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa, and the Americas. As expected, the former is essentially an global variant of the Mi 6X the company launched in late April, whereas the latter is a slightly more affordable version of the main model, with both being created to offer an extremely high value-to-price ratio and retail as the ultimate Android mid-rangers of 2018.
