If you have an Android powered phone and want to play Fortnite on it, you'll have to do so outside of the normal methods for grabbing android apps.

If you'd rather avoid waiting for your invite to the beta, you can delay trying to install Fortnite until the game's official Android launch. The app will also be required for updates to the game on Android, just like it is on the Windows platform.

When Epic Games brings its hugely popular battle royale game "Fortnite" to some Android smartphones and tablets later this month (it's now available on select Samsung devices only), it won't distribute it on Google Play.

Once the APK file is installed, it will install Fortnite on your device. To get on the list, go to Epic Games' official website and register with your email address.

In a nutshell, the issue is that Epic Games distributes Fortnite for Android outside the Play Store, which is a bit unusual; virtually all popular Android apps are on the Play Store, and this does keep users (somewhat) more safe.

The arrival of Fortnite on Android has not only been eagerly awaited, but also steeped in controversy. Other phones officially capable of handling the game include Google's Pixel and Pixel XL models, the Razer Phone, the Essential Phone, Nokia 8, and several devices from LG, Asus, Huawei, Xiaomi, and ZTE. All you need to do is fire up Galaxy Apps and search for it (though right now it's featured on the front page).

Unfortunately, most users won't get past the sign-in process as only invited players will be able to launch the game.

How to download Fortnite Android? It's steering people away from fake and possibly unsafe apps that might try to cash in on the confusion of Fortnite not being in the one place you'd really expect it to be. However, it arrived in a way that nobody expected - being exclusive to Samsung devices initially and to be made available as a non-Google Play download.
