José Mourinho does not expect any Manchester United deadline-day signings

Jose Mourinho has taken aim at Liverpool and Tottenham on the eve of the new season, saying they "win nothing" but are painted as "serial winners" while his Manchester United get no credit.

United finished above them last season.

The Premier League is back this weekend - and we travel to Arsenal to begin the defence of our title. Ivan Perisic, the Croatia global, also featured prominently on Mourinho's wish list but it now seems that United's summer transfer business will be restricted to the arrivals of Fred, the injured Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant, signed from Stoke City as a third-choice goalkeeper.

And ahead of his side's Premier League season opener against Leicester on Friday night, Mourinho addressed reporters' questions about whether United would be getting any late business done on deadline day.

Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool did reach they Champions League final, which they lost to Real Madrid, but Mourinho is still bristling over the perception of last season as a disappointment for United, who also lost the FA Cup final to Chelsea.

Standing ovation for Karius at his Anfield return
That combines with the £75m purchase of Virgil van Dijk in January as Liverpool look for their first ever Premier League title. Three minutes later, Wijnaldum rounded off a well-worked team move with a neat finish to double the hosts' lead.

"I'm not confident, I'm not confident and the market closes today so is time at least for me to stop thinking about the market because the market will be closed".

"I am so happy with the team and, from last season, I said maybe one more player, maybe two".

"Is hard for me to understand, to feel, to believe we finish second". "The list of injured players is an important list and, after training, I will speak with that group of [World Cup] players because everybody is different, physically and mentally, to see how they feel they are and to understand how they can help or not help".

Manchester United have been hit by injuries throughout the pre-season tour of the United States and there are plenty of first-team stars that have only just returned from their holidays due to exploits in the World Cup this summer.

"Since nine years, every season - except the first when I arrived at Barcelona". The manager has to decide which way we play.
