Shaw justified his inclusion with Manchester United's second goal in a 2-0 win over Leicester to pip stand-in captain Paul Pogba to the man of the match award.

United didn't sign a single player in the summer transfer window after July 3rd, and Mourinho spent a good chunk of the preseason complaining about not getting the support he desires in the transfer market.

The midfielder, who burst onto the world stage during his stint with Serie A giants Juventus, dominated the midfield under the floodlights at Old Trafford on Friday night.

When asked if he is happy at the club, the midfielder gave a cryptic answer, saying he would get fined if he opened up about his feelings at the club.

"We will see which players become available and we are focused on the league, so it's best to ask [Director of Sport] Eric Abidal about players".

However, the former Juventus midfielder hinted at an ongoing impasse with Mourinho by stressing: "If you're not happy, you can not give your best", Pogba said.

Paul Pogba has found it hard in recent seasons to produce consistently good performances for Manchester United, but in their opening fixture of the new Premier League season, the Frenchman seemed like a totally different player.

According to the Daily Express, the Red Devils could make a shock move for La Galaxy striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and also put in fresh bids for Tottenham Hotspur's Toby Alderweireld and Chelsea's Willian in the next transfer window.

"When you have everybody with you, everybody next to you, you know they want to fight for you, obviously it's going to be easier", he said. "We play against a team that invest more than us".

"If you'd have said to me six years ago that Manchester United were the title winners and then would spend £700m in the next few years, I would have said that they would have won multiple titles".

"Forget the name, the history, the shirt, every match is hard".
