Following the first set of leaked photos that surfaced online earlier this year, Entertainment Weekly has made a decision to come through today and share the first official look at the upcoming Captain Marvel movie.
On Wednesday, fans got their first look of Brie Larson in costume as Captain Marvel.
Captain Marvel is directed by Anna Boden & Ryan Fleck (Half-Nelson, Mississippi Grind) with a script they worked on with Meg LeFauve (Inside Out), Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy), Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Tomb Raider), and Liz Flahive & Carly Mensch (GLOW).
The first question answered is what costume/suit Larson will be rocking.
Marvel Studios has a rich history to draw from in the comics of different characters taking on the mantle of Captain America.

At least 10 people in the Kansai region were killed and about 300 injured, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga told reporters. Police said five others died elsewhere in the prefecture after being hit by flying objects or falling from their apartments.
The last scene of Avengers Infinity War had Nick Fury contacting Captain Marvel. Since Captain Marvel is set in the '90s, it seems likely that the Skrull presence on Earth won't be fully repelled in the film.
The fact that Captain Marvel's "Photon" is an apparently human woman with a daughter is another intriguing thing about her, suggesting that the Marvel Cinematic Universe's incarnation of Monica Rambeau may be slated to make a heroic debut of her own down the line.
Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige had said we'd get the official title of "Avengers 4" after the first teaser for "Captain Marvel", so the wheels are in motion now. It's already September, and the film will premiere on March 8th in the US. Ben Mendelsohn plays Talos, the leader of the Skrulls who spearheads an invasion of earth.
"This is not a superhero who's flawless or otherworldly or has some godlike connection", co-director Anna Boden told EW. Yesterday, the magazine released a teaser cover story and some images, but now we're finally getting some nitty gritty details on the MCU's first ever female-led superhero film. It will feature a de-aged Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson). We see Brie Larson in her superhero suit and later teaming up with Jude Law's Mar-Vell.
