Crowell spent four seasons with the Browns before signing a three-year, $12 million free agent contract with NY as a free agent in March.

Mayfield finished 17 of 23 for 201 yards in a little more than a half after coming in after Taylor suffered a concussion. If anything, he was able to rush for 22 yards on four carries, but it was clear then that the Browns were not going to win the game if Taylor can't turn things around in the pocket.

The winless drought for the Cleveland Browns is finally over.

Before Thursday, the Browns' last win came December 24, 2016.

Isaiah Crowell had two touchdown runs for the Jets (1-2), who seemed in control when they took a 14-0 lead and knocked Taylor from the game.

In the 1:19 that he was on the field in the second quarter, Mayfield led the Browns on their only scoring drive of the first half. After a rough start, Mayfield entered the game late in the second quarter and ended up bringing the Browns to a 21-17 win.

Despite Mayfield's performance, Browns coach Hue Jackson says he needs "to look at the tape" before naming his starter for Week 4's game against the Oakland Raiders.
