Police are on the scene of an active shooting in Middleton, Wisconsin.

Keely Arthur of CNN affiliate WISC said about 50 police cars and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are at the scene.

WISC-TV reported at around 12 p.m. ET on September 19 that Dane County dispatch received multiple reports of an active shooter around the 1800 block of Deming Way.

Andrew King, an employee at an area building, said he saw a man with a handgun going inside another building.

A large number of emergency services, including a SWAT team and multiple ambulances, responded to the shooting.

Local and federal authorities are responding to reports of an active shooter in Middleton, Wisconsin, about 6 miles outside of Madison.

The shopping center next to the building, Greenway Station, was locked down at the direction of police, according to the center's general manager Corey Kautzky. She provided no additional information.

Middleton Police are leading the investigation. There are stores and restaurants affected.

The woman was seeing being held up as she was taken from Esker Software in Middleton, Wisc., Wednesday morning.
