"While no decisions have been made regarding any upcoming Superman films, we've always had great respect for and a great relationship with Henry Cavill, and that remains unchanged", a Warner Bros. spokesperson said in a statement.

When ya look up in the sky.it might be a bird, might be a plane, but it damn sure won't be Henry Cavill - he's leaving the role of Superman.

Another source says no stand-alone Superman films are planned for the near term.

Deadline goes on to reiterate what THR said, that Warner Bros.is now focused on launching a Supergirl movie, which means that the next onscreen appearance from Superman is (at best) a few years away.

He's emerged as an early contender for the role, should Warner Bros. and DC opt to cast another relative unknown in the role. "This may be a blessing in disguise".

Unscheduled reshoots on Justice League also meant that producers also infamously had to CGI-out Cavill's facial hair, as by that point he was filming Mission: Impossible - Fallout, and was contractually obliged not to shave his 'tache off. The news comes after Warner Bros reportedly attempted to secure Cavill for upcoming superhero movie Shazam! but during negotiations, both camps were faced with conflicts prompting talks to be shut down.

WB also doesn't have any immediate plans for a solo Superman movie. "There's a recognition that some parts of the previous movies didn't work".

Warner Bros.is well aware of how many people are now displeased with the state of their DC franchise, and are apparently trying to find different angles to change that. "I don't know if it's the exact one I'd make a movie out of but I'd definitely take tones from it". The final product was a movie where you can nearly see the Sellotape holding it together.

"He's doing his utmost to save humanity and create a ideal place for everyone to live but then realises that he can't, but it's lovely that he tried".
