The Series 4 smartwatch can be pre-ordered starting on Friday with costs starting at $399.
Coming as a surprise to no one who eagerly scanned the countless leaks, today Apple revealed the fourth generation Apple Watch, which sticks with the wearable's square-faced, minimalist form factor, but improves how much info can be squeezed on that tiny display, and the watch's health-tracking capabilities.
The hardware has been tweaked as well, with the two sizes - 40mm and 44mm - rocking screens that are more than 30 per cent larger than the Series 3 watch despite offering a slimmer chassis. The approval opens the door for Apple to explore other medical applications of the watch, like tracking sleep disorders. In addition, the speaker is claimed to be 50% louder.
"You just won't believe the sound you get out of such a small device", Williams said. Honestly, if you're a fan of the Apple Watch at all and thinking it's time to jump - now is the time to do it. Apple added a new trick that allows the watch to detect falls, which sounds like it should be easy, but Apple says it's actually really complicated. If it senses you're immobile for more than a minute it starts informing emergency services. It'll also reach out to your emergency contacts. The Hermes version of the Apple Watch is carried forward as well with bold new looks and watch faces will change by the passage of time.
The watch will also notify you when it detects that your heart rate is too low or that there's an irregular pattern compared to your usual values. You can therefore take ECG readings yourself, which are stored in the Health app on your iPhone and could be useful by your doctor if there is anything wrong.
The first ECG product offered directly to consumers.

The Series 4 will be available for order on September 14 and will hit store shelves on September 21.
There is expected to be an 5.8 inch screen "iPhone Xs", and a 6.5 inch "iPhone Xs Max" - the latter is said to feature an A12 chip, improved camera quality and potentially new color options, but will come at a steep price (estimated to be between $999-$1,099, according to analysts).
The Series 4 is thinner than the Series 3, but the screen is 30 percent larger.
It will be available in silver, black and gold.
Apple says if you drop your phone in a pool, for example, you will be able to jump in and grab it and be confident that it will be unharmed.
"What the team has done is truly, truly a breakthrough", Schiller.
