Joaquin Phoenix's full Joker look for the standalone film as been revealed and it's freaking us out. The makeup itself appears to be based off of a much more traditional clown style than we have previously seen for the Joker.
While it is hard to be totally sure it is hair dye and not a lens filter, it appears as though Joaquin Phoenix's hair is green in that short video from Joker released earlier today. It shows Phoenix in costume looking somewhat normal under flashing clown images - until the video cuts to him in full face makeup sporting a wicked grin.
We'll be sure to get more footage of Phoenix's Joker as filming continues on the project, and with it, hopefully some answers to boot. Realistic, rumpled, and totally bonkers without being over-the-top, this is exactly the kind of look that could make this film feel as grounded and demented as it angles to be.
Last Sunday Phillips posted a picture of the Walk the Line actor with long hair staring into the camera. It could be that this is Joker in an earlier part of his personal transformation, given that this film is an origin story.
