Dennis Hof, US brothel owner, aspiring politician, dies

The Nye County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that brothel owner Dennis Hof died at the Love Ranch in Crystal on Tuesday morning. He was discovered by longtime friend Ron Jeremy - who went to his room to wake him for a scheduled lunch at the Pahrump Senior Center - around 11:00 a.m.

Muth said Hof had apparently "died quietly in his sleep".

He was most famous for being a champion of legal prostitution and owning a number of brothels throughout Nevada.

Jeremy told the Associated Press he and a woman had found Hof's body after Hof failed to meet them.

Sheriff Sharon Wehrly, who also is the county coroner, also was at the party. Though no foul play is suspected, witnesses say the fatal incident occurred after a campaign rally for State Assembly. "The Clark County coroner will conduct an autopsy", Muth said in a statement. "Nobody ever would do that", Hof said then.

Former NBA star Lamar Odom was once famously found unconscious at Love Ranch after a four-day stay.

Wayne Thorley, deputy Nevada secretary of state for elections, said Hof's name will remain on the November ballot.

This year, he ran as a Republican and earned backing from Trump associate Roger Stone and tax-cut activist Grover Norquist, who attended one of Hof's parties.

Hof was running against Democratic Las Vegas educator Lesia Romanov.
