A new Xbox Skill is available for both Cortana and Alexa which will let you control aspects of your console with your voice. If you prefer something more powerful, you can grab an Xbox One X.

The new avatars include a lot of neat options previously not included, like prosthetic limbs and mobility aids, which allow them to represent a wider range of players more accurately. The Avatars will appear across Xbox One as well as activity feeds, Friend blocks on the Home screen, leaderboards, profiles, and other locations, as they will become a big part of the Xbox ecosystem going forward.

The Alexa integration is quite a big deal as Amazon has been an early leader in the digital assistant space, and for a limited-time consumers in the United States who buy a qualified Xbox One S or Xbox One X bundle at will get a new Amazon Echo Dot along their purchase.

Support for Dolby Vision enables "enhanced HDR" streaming capabilities across the Xbox lineup. With this deal, you're basically getting one of the new Echo Dot devices for free with your purchase of either an Xbox One X or Xbox One S console, saving you from having to spend $50 on one separately. Now it's bringing a part of that to the Xbox One. An Australian version of English language for Narrator is also being added.

The leaked images of the device suggest a metal chassis sandwiched between two glass slabs and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. Lastly, the smartphone also packs in a 3,500mAh battery which should be good enough to last more than a day with moderate usage.

Another highlight of the October 2018 Update is support for Dolby Vision HDR video streaming. Support on more apps will come in the following months. If you need more assistance setting up the feature or want more information on supported TVs, check out this blog post.

The update is now rolling out to Xbox One owners worldwide and includes a number of new features, such as new Xbox Avatars, and support for five new languages within the Narrator tool.
