A bomb threat was phoned in Thursday night for the building that houses CNN in New York City, leading to the building being evacuated, the New York Police Department confirmed to CBS News.
A preliminary search by security found nothing, and the NYPD was conducting a search as a precaution, the police official said. Employees have been evacuated and the NYPD is investigating.
The network temporarily went to taped programming for about half hour before going live from the street while police investigated.
The anonymous phone call was received by a member of staff at the Time Warner building at 25 Columbus Circle, in Manhattan, Thursday night. The caller said there were as many as five bombs planted in the building, according to the anchor.
Law enforcement said that someone had called and claimed there were 5 bombs inside the building.
CNN was targeted amid a wave of pipe bombs sent to opponents of President Donald Trump.

Police gave the all clear shortly before midnight Eastern time (5am United Kingdom time) after dozens of police officers searched the building floor by floor.
And network host Don Lemon tweeted that the offices were evacuated in the middle of his live show, which was taken off the air.
Members of the NYPD's Emergency Services Unit swept the building and gave the all-clear shortly after midnight, reopening it for occupation.
"Right now CNN is airing taped programming due to the disruption", he added.
CNN was also evacuated in October after a package with an explosive device, addressed to former CIA Director John Brennan, was discovered. "Due to the threat, the office has been evacuated".
