This group consisted of Donald and Melania Trump, along with past presidents and their spouses.

Bob Dole, 95, an advocate of that legislation and the former Senate majority leader from Kansas, came in a wheelchair to honor his fellow World War II veteran.

Trump has said some rather negative things about the Clintons and the Obamas in the past.

This is the eighth funeral train in USA history and the first since Dwight D. Eisenhower's body traveled from the National Cathedral in Washington through seven states to his Kansas hometown of Abilene 49 years ago.

His death also reduces membership in the club of living ex-presidents to four: Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, George W Bush and Barack Obama.

Bush's beloved service dog, Sully, faithfully joined his companion on his final journey to Washington, DC and on Tuesday sat at attention a few moments next to the casket as the President lay in state at the U.S. Capitol rotunda.

Mourners lined up to enter the Capitol beginning Monday evening for the public viewing.

Bush died Friday at age 94.

Bush is the 12th USA president to lie in state in the Capitol Rotunda. "He was the Republican presidential nominee in 1996", writes Fox News. The late President Bush called Trump a "blowhard".

The federal government and some financial exchanges will be closed on Wednesday for a day of mourning.
