Awards season is soon to be on the horizon, and now that nominations for the 61st annual Grammy Awards have finally arrived, the industry is about to be flooded with non-stop campaigning.
Select categories will first be revealed at 8:30 a.m. ET, before the rest of the nominations across all 84 categories will follow at 8:45 a.m. on the official Grammys website. J. Cole - "Pretty Little Fears" Childish Gambino - "This Is America" Kendrick Lamar & SZA - "All the Stars" Post Malone ft. The Best Rap Song category, which recognizes songwriters, includes "God's Plan", "King's Dead", and "Sicko Mode" as well as Eminem's "Lucky You" and Jay Rock's "Win".
THE GREATEST SHOWMAN has been nominated for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media and "This is Me" from the soundtrack was nominated for Best Song Written for Visual Media. "Black Panther: The Album, Music From and Inspired By" is up for album of the year, a category where women make up five of the eight nominees. Five other songs scored nominations in both categories, including Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper's "Shallow" from "A Star Is Born"; Childish Gambino's "This Is America"; Drake's "God's Plan"; Zedd, Maren Morris and Grey's "The Middle"; and Carlile's "The Joke". And former Chicagoan Kurt Elling was nominated for best jazz vocal album for "The Questions". Though nominated for album of the year, he was surprisingly shut out of best rap album, where his rival Pusha T earned a nomination. But West has only ever won big in smaller categories such as Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song.
Perennial favorite Taylor Swift appeared to fall out of grace, however, earning just one nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album for "Reputation".
Brandon, Man. -raised violinist James Ehnes is nominated for classical instrumental solo for his concerto Kernis, while Toronto-born conductor Peter Oundjian also received a nod for classical compendium.

The 28-year-old country singer received five nominations this year, but perhaps the most notable one, according to People, is for "Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters". Cardi will also compete for Best Rap Album, Best Rap Performance ("Be Careful"), and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for her Maroon 5 collaboration "Girls Like You".
