And if we consider Mesut Ozil's dismal campaign, it goes without saying that Arsenal are in desperate need of some attacking reinforcements this January and Ferreira Carrasco seems like a smart choice.

The 25-year-old made the surprising decision to leave Atletico Madrid for Chinese side Dalian Yifang a year ago, though Belgian newspaper HLN claim he is unhappy and instructed his representatives to make contact with Arsenal.

Carrasco is reportedly ready to return to Europe this month though with Manchester United and AC Milan both thought to be keeping tabs on the situation.

Sky Sport Italia, as quoted by the Daily Mirror, is reporting that the Gunners are at the front of the queue to sign Carrasco from Chinese Super League outfit Dalian Yifang.

The 25-year-old has scored 7 goals in his 25 appearances over the past year but he's already agitating for a move back to Europe and the Belgian worldwide has seemingly attracted interest from the Premier League. Furthermore, it has been reported that Carrasco is looking at the possibility of taking a pay cut on his current wages of €10million-a-year (£173,000-a-week) to move back to Europe.

Man Utd are also being tipped to strengthen their options this month as they look to back caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer in the transfer market and Carrasco is also being considered by the Old Trafford club.

Having played just 26 games for Dalian Yifang in under a year, Yannick Carrasco scored seven and assisted nine.
