And Elbaz' response to the accusations of misleading "5G E" labeling? AT&T calls it "building a narrative".

AT&T has said 5G E provides average speeds of about 40Mbps and peak theoretical speeds of 400Mbps.

"Every company is guilty of building a narrative of how you want the world to work".

Improvements to LTE aren't what any of AT&T's competitor's are calling 5G.

T-Mobile's outperformance of even Verizon's surprisingly strong numbers is a signal that it's continuing to take the most market share among USA carriers.

Jaguar Land Rover: 4500 jobs to go in shake-up
A Ford spokesman said the vehicle maker now assumes that any Brexit deal would keep tariff-free trade between Britain and Europe. The Jaguar Land Rover workforce is to be cut by 6,000, or 15 per cent, with a decision to axe a further 4,500 jobs this year.

In the spirit of maintaining customer trust, Verizon called on the entire wireless industry to label something 5G "only if new device hardware is connecting to the network using new radio technology to deliver new capabilities" [Verizon's emphasis].

In that same blog post, Legere tried to get ahead of folks that would say T-Mobile did the same thing as AT&T when it branded its HSPA+ coverage as "4G" back in 2010.

T-Mobile said as part of its preliminary fourth-quarter and full-year earnings announce today that the 7 million customers it added in 2018 marks the fifth straight year the company has added more than 5 million customers during the course of a year. Verizon is anxious that some will "over-hype and under-deliver" as temptation slides in for the awesomeness that is the future of 5G. The new 5G E icon is expected to reach more AT&T phones throughout the year. Donovan's comment about creating a narrative suggests the company is well aware of this.

Even though real 5G isn't ready for smartphones yet, Donovan gloated that "everyone within the industry who competes with us didn't like the fact that the night before last, overnight the top of your phone now shows a 5G E".
