Report Former Packers head coach Mike Mc Carthy only considering Jets job

Adam Schefter and Jeff Darlington of ESPN first reported the news.

Instead of picking McCarthy, the Jets went with Gase, who lasted only three years as the Dolphins coach.

According to reports, the Jets have interviewed McCarthy, Jim Caldwell, Todd Monken, Eric Bieniemy and Adam Gase for the position. He was sacked, as expected, immediately after the 2018 season. He is set to become the first Jets head coach with previous National Football League head-coaching experience since Bill Parcells was hired by the franchise in 1997.

The Cincinnati Bengals and the Dolphins remain the only teams yet to name their head coach for the 2019 season.

Patrick McCaw plans to sign with Raptors
However, he only ended up playing three games with the Cavaliers, who waived him before that deal would become fully guaranteed. On Sunday, the Cavs waived McCaw after three games in Cleveland ahead of a deadline that would have guaranteed his contract.

His résumé includes serving as an offensive coordinator for the Denver Broncos and Chicago Bears.

Miami faces the Jets twice a year, as both are in the AFC East. They likely are interested in him with the hope he could groom quarterback Sam Darnold the same way he did with Aaron Rodgers. The two men spearheading the Jets coaching search left all options open when asked to identify the type of candidate they wanted to run their franchise.

Green Bay Packers former head coach Mike McCarthy has not found a new team for the 2019 season, and he has told NFL.com reporter Tom Pelissero he will sit out next season.
