Hart's first apology to the LGBTQ community was after he stepped down from hosting the Oscars (even though he said hours before he wouldn't apologize).
Following backlash over her interview with Kevin Hart, Ellen DeGeneres' brother, Vance, came to the host's defense on Twitter. Most of the tweets, which were written between 2009 and 2011, have been deleted, but according to CNN, one read, "Yo if my son comes home & try's 2 play with my daughters doll house I'm going 2 break it over his head & say n my voice "stop that's gay". I'm sorry.' But then they go, 'But you didn't say it right.
"You may not like the way he said it, [but] he did say, 'I'm sorry, I apologize, '" Lemon said of Hart.
Further adding, "You have grown, you have apologised, you are apologising again right now". "I don't see any meaningful outreach to the community.... and now you want the conversation to end". "I understand you. But in the fight for equality, that means that there has to be an acceptance for change". I'm riding with you guys.
He continued, "If you don't want to accept people for their change, then where are you trying to get to the equal part?"
Samsung's 2019 TVs to support Apple iTunes, AirPlay 2
The app, which is launching in more than 100 countries, will be available on current-gen Samsung TVs in the first half of 2019. Apple is working with multiple manufacturers to bring AirPlay 2 support to smart TVs, not just Samsung as reported yesterday .
"Ultimately, Hart felt his hosting would become a distraction, a continuing controversial narrative that would take the spotlight off the people and movies being honored".
His comments come after he told Ellen Degeneres that he was reconsidering his position as host of the Oscars, as the award show - which take place next month - is yet to find a replacement host. "Let me assess, just sit in the space and really think, and you and I will talk before anything else". She says its reps instantly replied that they still wanted the funnyman to be the night's MC.
There had previously been rumors that the Academy was considering using multiple hosts, with Deadline reporting that this is an option once again, as is using no host at all. Isn't that the same thing they were asking for, to be embraced on their own merits and not be stereotyped and stigmatized?
Hart seemingly defended some of his old tweets, saying, "These weren't words that I said to gay individuals".
DeGeneres' words were met with criticism online, with many accusing her of giving Hart's homophobic comments a pass. "I apologize." He then went on to explain the jokes in question.
