Di Maria was clearly in ecstasy after the goal and wasted no time in taunting the fans Old Trafford with abusive gestures during the celebrations.

Fresh off the back of a man of the match performance in the Champions League final for Real Madrid and a strong World Cup in which he helped Argentina reach the final - only to sit it out injured - Di Maria moved to Old Trafford for £59.7m in the summer of 2014 to much fanfare.

The Argentine also got into an earlier collision with Ashley Young that saw him tumble into the advertising boards on the side of the pitch.

Di MARIA took the corner kick which lead to Presnel KIMPEMBE scoring the first goal.

Di Maria stayed down for an extended period of time while players argued with each other and complained to the referee Daniele Orsato. "Puta!" to the United faithful, captured clearly by TV cameras. One user commented that the player had "turned Old Trafford into a pub".

One source who had been briefed on the arrangements noted: "Xi is scheduled to meet both Lighthizer and Mnuchin on Friday". Trump indicated that he'll wait and see what will come of the ministerial meeting that's starting on Thursday in Beijing.

Again, though, it was Di Maria that had the last laugh as he assisted PSG's second goal of the night moments later when Kylian Mbappe slotted past David De Gea.

Unsurprisingly, Twitter users did not pass up the opportunity to remind United fans of not only Di Maria's return, but what happened on the pitch.

And in the second half, he had a beer thrown at him by a fan.

"Angel Di Maria is very competitive". If you tease him, it does not make him weaker.

Paris Saint-Germain's head coach Thomas Tuchel said of the shove: "There was no need to push Di Maria into the fans but I don't think it was on objective". The injuries to Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard towards the end of the first half necessitated a change in formation after the interval, with Pogba drifting further forward and into a central position, alongside substitutes Alexis Sanchez and Juan Mata in playing just behind frontman Marcus Rashford. There are still 90 minutes left.
