Beto Has Reportedly Been Working Behind The Scenes For 2020 Run

John Cornyn (R-TX) in 2020, recently said he and his wife "have made a decision" about 2020 and added that they are "excited to share it with everyone soon".

O'Rourke and his team shot a video released Monday to promote an Iowa Democrat running in a state Senate special election and O'Rourke will go to the state this weekend to participate in a get-out-the-vote event.

"Supporting [Giddens] for state Senate is the way that we get Iowa - and by extension, this country - back on the right track", O'Rourke says in the video as he walks through an El Paso neighborhood wearing a "Northern Iowa" hat.

O'Rourke has not officially announced he is running for president.

O'Rourke's team sent out an email blast on Saturday teasing a "big announcement" and inviting supporters to be the first to hear any news. "UNI, we're counting on you, and we're looking forward to seeing you soon".

The trip to the Hawkeye State would be O'Rourke's first as a candidate - and spending time there is a necessity for anyone mounting a serious presidential run.

In addition to O'Rourke's trip to Iowa, he is also planning to visit other early states in the primary calendar.

O'Rourke, who reportedly has ruled out challenging Sen.

While a December 2018 Des Moines Register poll of likely Iowa Democratic caucus-goers showed O'Roruke garnering 11 percent of the vote, a poll by the same outlet released this past weekend showed his support had dipped to just 5 percent.

"We want to play as great a role as possible making sure that this country lives up to our expectations, to the promise, to the potential that we all know her to have", O'Rourke said. He has also visited the general election battleground state of Wisconsin. While he ruled out running again for the U.S. Senate seat in Texas, he stopped short of revealing if his decision included launching a challenge to President Donald Trump in 2020.
