Browns agree to deal with DT Sheldon Richardson

The excitement of the discovery of Baker Mayfield didn't cloud general manager John Dorsey's vision that he needed to strengthen his front seven.

Defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson will join the Cleveland Browns from the Minnesota Vikings, according to multiple reports.

One new player and two players re-signed is what the doctor has ordered for the Cleveland Browns on day two of free agency. Richardson and Vernon will combine with Myles Garrett and Larry Ogunjobi to form a young (Vernon and Richardson are the eldest at 28) and active group that can play the run and the pass. Per Pro Football Focus, Richardson ranked as the league's 47th interior defender last season.

Richardson will help the Browns get to the quarterback and plug the middle.

During his time with the Vikings, Richardson had 49 tackles and 4 1/2 sacks in 16 games.

The Browns finished 12th in defensive DVOA previous year and are making additions to their defensive line that should position them to be even better next season.
