NFL suspends Browns running back Kareem Hunt for eight games

If the Patriots do host the Browns in Week 1 of the National Football League season, they will not face running back Kareem Hunt.

Hunt signed a one-year, $1.1. million contract with the Browns in February. Police investigated but the woman did not file charges against Hunt.

Last season, in the 11 games he played before being released by the Chiefs, Hunt rushed for 824 yards and seven touchdowns, adding 26 receiving yards for seven touchdowns. I respect the league's decision on discipline, and I appreciate the time I spent with Commissioner Goodell last week.

"First off, I would like to once again apologize for my actions a year ago". "My commitment to earning the trust of the league, my teammates, the organization, and this community through my actions will continue".

The league said Hunt has told them he's committed to "available resources" and he has pledged to live up his obligations. That's the nice way of saying a video showing him shoving and kicking a woman last February was obtained by TMZ and went viral.

UEFA open investigation into Neymar after abusive Insta comments
UEFA says it "appointed an ethics and disciplinary Inspector to conduct an investigation " of the social media comments. He said the penalty, which was scored by Marcus Rashford , "doesn't exist".

Hunt was not charged in any of the incidents.

Hunt will forfeit his $303,529 of his $645,000 base salary due to the suspension, ESPN reports, although he will be free to return for the second half of the season.

Hunt's suspension caps a busy week for the Browns, who acquired superstar wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. on Tuesday in a trade with the New York Giants. And now that they're actually playoff contenders, maybe this means running back Duke Johnson won't be as available as we thought.

Hunt's suspension will begin August 31, which means he can participate in the Browns' offseason program, training camp and 2019 preseason games. A rep from EA Sports put out a statement on the matter, expressing that they "are in the process of removing Kareem Hunt from the Madden NFL 19 roster, Madden Overdrive, and Madden Ultimate Team", adding, "Any of our players who now have Hunt on their Ultimate Team will receive a replacement generic player with identical stats".

"We want to thank the Browns for the unwavering support they have shown Kareem", a statement from his agent read. The Browns can hold on to Johnson well into October if they wish, add something at a position of need for Johnson in-season, and then get a super-motivated Hunt, playing for his National Football League career on a one-year deal, down the stretch.
