Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists they can go for the lot.

"We want these games against the biggest clubs".

This year is the 20th anniversary of United's treble-winning season, when they won the Premier League and FA Cup as well as the Champions League, with hard moments on the way to all three trophies.

Should Sanchez leave United, the Old Trafford fans will expect a big-name replacement and Bale arriving at the club would certainly fit the bill.

Jurgen Klopp: 'Liverpool will not spend big on new players'
The 51-year-old German was the top flight's biggest spender last summer when recruiting Alisson, Fabinho , Naby Keïta and Xherdan Shaqiri for about £170 million.

"You're always measured on results but we played a good game against Arsenal, [we've] played so much worse and won games and that's the unusual thing when you're a manager you can look behind the result and say that was a good performance didn't get what we deserved", Solskjaer said in his pre-match press conference. "We're not challenging to win the league this year but we are challenging to win the other two trophies".

"There have been a couple of comments about "You used to wear the number 20" and blah blah blah, but I believe that you get what you deserve in life, in sports".

"Because PSG we still had a chance to correct it and before then the last game I lost was against Ranheim on 26th August, so it was a long time ago". "If you're travelling to or from the match on the train and see any behaviour that doesn't feel right, you can report it to us discretely by texting 61016 with the details".

Defeats for Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and PSG have led to suggestions that the tournament is opening up, but with a quarter-final against Barcelona coming up and a free-scoring Cristiano Ronaldo still in the tournament with Juventus, Solskjaer wasn't so sure. On any day, anyone can beat anyone.
