Thunder take down cold-shooting Jazz

Russell Westbrook

Westbrook scored 23 points 11 rebounds and eight assists in Monday night's win

A video of Oklahoma City point guard Russell Westbrook in a heated exchange with a Utah fan began to circulate social media before Monday's game ended.

"I swear to god, I'll [expletive] you up". I'll (expletive) you up; you and your wife.

After the game, NBA All-Star Westbrook again accused Keisel of making "disrespectful" and "racial" comments.

Russell Westbrook had another ugly run-in with a Utah Jazz fan in Utah on Monday night and most of this one, and the words he used, were caught on camera. I don't think it's fair to the players - not just to me, but I don't think it's fair to the players.

"I'm exhausted of just going out and playing and letting fans say what the hell they want to say".

"I didn't confront fans; fans confronted me", Westbrook said after that game. "I just think there's gotta be something done, there's gotta be some consequences for those type of people that come to the game just to say and do whatever they want to say".

According to the Deseret News' Eric Woodyard, five Jazz fans received "warning cards" that their comments, gestures and/or behaviors directed at players were in violation of the league's Fan Code of Conduct. Westbrook slapped a fan's phone out of their hand last season and was openly taunted by Mitt Romney during the 2018 playoff series between the Thunder and Jazz.

Westbrook and Thunder guard Raymond Felton, who was also on the bench at the time, said the woman with Keisel repeated his insult. Keisler said she didn't say a word. If I was on the street, they wouldn't just come up to me and say anything because I don't play that.

With Westbrook's response captured on video, the National Basketball Association is sure to take a close look at whether the former MVP crossed any boundaries with his choice of words.

If the details of the incident provided by Patterson are true, then Westbrook had a legitimate reason to be upset with the fan in question. The Thunder opened the second quarter with an 8-0 run, which Utah answered with an 8-0 run of their own - before the Thunder added a second 8-0 run to seize control before the end of the first half. No one is held accountable for their actions except for us. Obviously he's a good playmaker for us and he can definitely help us win games at a high level just because of what he brings to the team and his playmaking ability and his length and how he can defend.

"I'm exhausted of just going out and playing and letting fans say what the hell they want to say".

"Players and fans have a shared responsibility to create a safe and respectful environment", the Jazz statement said. It's truly disrespectful. Talk about your families, your kids.

"Fans are protected in every way possible but not us".
