White House considered releasing detained immigrants into ‘sanctuary cities’

Trump confirms he'd like to send asylum seekers to sanctuary cities

Trump responded Friday morning on Twitter, tweeting that the reports were true and officials have strongly considered placing immigrants in sanctuary cities.

"Due to the fact that Democrats are unwilling to change our very risky immigration laws, we are indeed, as reported, giving strong considerations to placing Illegal Immigrants in Sanctuary Cities only".

"His request is a transparent effort by one political party to harass an official from the other party because they dislike his politics and speech", he added. She opposed Trump's idea all the same.

During the campaign, Trump said he wanted to release his returns but said because he was under a routine audit, "I can't".
