Step aside, Pewdiepie and T-Series die-hard fans. K-Pop (Korean Pop) sensation BTS (or Beyond the Scene in English and Bangtan Sonyeondan in Korean) took YouTube by storm over the weekend, breaking a multitude of streaming records, with the release of their new "Boy with Luv" music video featuring Halsey. YouTube didn't immediately respond to a request for comment, but according to Variety, the video smashed the site's record for most views in the first 24 hours of release.
Even more awesome is the fact that BTS not only broke the previous record of 56.7 million views, set by Blackpink's "Kill This Love" just last week, but that they smashed it by nearly 22 million views.
On Saturday night, YouTube confirmed the official record, which is now set at 78 million. This astonishing feat has been made possible only because of BTS' fandom, known as the ARMY, across the world.
Measles cases rose almost four-fold in first quarter 2019
Infections have also increased in wealthy countries with high overall immunisation rates, such as the United States and Israel. It's the first closure since health officials ordered residents of one Brooklyn neighborhood to be vaccinated for measles.
This week, the comedy skits, starring host Emma Stone, are likely to come in second to the musical performances by BTS, the first South Korean musical act to perform on the NBC show.
The guys from BTS hit the stage for performances of their smash hit songs "Boy with Luv" and "Mic Drop" on Saturday Night Live's new episode on Saturday (April 13) in New York City. Well, it look like if you're BTS the sky's the limit.
