'Fort Trump' Still a Possibility as 1,000 More Troops Head to Poland
President Trump is expected to make the announcement alongside Polish President Andrej Duda at a signing event at the White House. The service members will be added to an existing force of about 4,500 US troops that rotate in and out of Poland.
Given Jay-Z's previous ties to the Brooklyn Nets - he once owned a share of the team - some have speculated Irving signing with Jay-Z's agency could mean the Nets are now the favorite to sign Irving. Durant's free agency has been complicated by a ruptured right Achilles tendon that will keep him out of the entire 2019-20 season. Along with the Nets, the Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks have been linked to Irving.
Irving then struggled in Boston's 4-1 Eastern Conference Semifinals loss to the Milwaukee Bucks prior to officially opting out of his contract early Wednesday, June 12, and then moving to switch agents. According to Wojnarowski, Irving "remains intensely interested" in the Brooklyn Nets.
Irving missed the 2017-18 postseason after playing in 60 games in his first season with the Celtics. Able to guard players as diverse as Joel Embiid and Giannis Antetokounmpo in spurts, Baynes also started spacing out to the 3-point line over the last two seasons. It's been said several of Irving's teammates would be just fine if he were to move on and play somewhere else next season.
