The Wall Street Journal reports that Kim Jong Nam, the half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un who was poisoned in a nerve agent attack in Malaysia's airport in 2017, was a source for the Central Intelligence Agency. "That's very important to me", Trump said.

The Journal said Kim Jong Nam met several times with CIA operatives but details of his relationship with the agency remain unclear.

Kim lived primarily outside North Korea, usually residing just outside of China in Macau.

As the eldest son of the Kim dynasty, Jong-nam was groomed for years as the successor to his father Kim Jong-il before he fell out of favour after the arrival of his three younger siblings.
